Ghana Football Association don officially announce say former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz na im be Black Stars new head coach.
The 73-year-old Portuguese coach go lead Ghana for the 2026 World Cup wey go hold for USA, Canada and Mexico.
Queiroz come replace Otto Addo wey dem sack on 31 March after Ghana lose two friendly matches against Germany and Austria.
Addo time as coach no too sweet as Ghana fail to qualify for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations under im leadership.
Queiroz talk say im accept the work with passion and commitment wey im don dey use for im career all these years.
“Ghana na country wey get talent, pride and football soul,” Queiroz yarn. “I come with respect for their history and belief for their future.”
The new coach get plenty experience for international football as im don coach different countries before.
Im lead Portugal to the last 16 for 2010 World Cup and coach Iran for three World Cup tournaments – 2014, 2018 and 2022.
Queiroz also don coach Egypt, Japan, Colombia, South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Qatar for im long career wey start from late 1980s.
For club level, im serve as Sir Alex Ferguson assistant for Manchester United two times – first from 2002 to 2003, then from 2004 to 2008.
Between those two periods, im even coach Real Madrid as head coach for one season.
Queiroz most recent work na with Oman national team but im leave last month after Oman fail to qualify for World Cup.
Ghana go play for Group L for the World Cup with England, Croatia and Panama as their opponents.
Their first match go be against Panama on 17 June, then England on 23 June, and finally Croatia on 27 June.
This na Ghana fifth World Cup appearance for the last six tournaments and their captain na Leicester City forward Jordan Ayew.
Queiroz appointment come just 58 days before World Cup start as Ghana dey rush prepare for the competition.
